In the fifteenth century, Johannes Gutenberg, commonly acknowledged to be the father of modern printing, was determined to find a way to make multiple copies of a single document. With his invention of moveable type printing, Gutenberg gave rise to a whole new industry, commercial printing.
More than 500 years later, Joe R. Davis, Chairman, CEO and founder of Consolidated Graphics, entered the commercial printing industry bringing an entrepreneurial spirit and his vision of a better printing company. Having seen consolidation at work in other industries, Mr. Davis set out to bring individual printers together into a strong national company with tremendous resources, capabilities and buying power.
Starting in 1985 with one company in Houston, Texas, Mr. Davis created Consolidated Graphics. He acquired well-established, well-respected printing companies and provided the financial, operational, managerial and technological support to transform good printers into great printers. He has built a company that now includes 70 printing companies strategically located across 27 states, in Toronto, Canada and now Prague, Czech Republic.
Today, Consolidated Graphics reflects Mr. Davis' vision of a strong, dynamic printing company that provides the service and responsiveness of a local printing company combined with the economic, geographic and technological advantages of a large, national printer. |
